The state of New York does not utilize the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) for testing or certifying their EMTs. Therefore you must schedule a New York State written certification exam. A calendar of the current exam schedule can be found here:

New York recognizes reciprocity, and if you are coming from out of state and currently hold an EMS certification from another state, it’s possible you can obtain certification in New York.
